What if your career suddenly goes offroad?

Be prepared if you find your career taking the wrong turn.

My cheeks hurt from smiling so much when I went off-road last month. That was FUN, even though:
--I spun out in a muddy patch
--I freaked at a switchback with a 500-foot drop into a canyon
--Overgrowth scratched the paint on the truck
--The coolant warning light came on

AND, I was prepared. I had a satellite phone. I had a full-size spare and had practiced changing a tire the year before. I knew how to check the coolant. I had a map and water.

If your work is changing significantly, be prepared to go off-road.
-- 💩The muddy patch is your unknown org change
-- 🛣️The switchback may be a new boss, a new team, a layoff
-- 🎨The scratched paint is your wounded ego
-- ⚠️The coolant warning light is your stress level
-- ☎️The satellite phone is your network
-- 🗺️The map is your resume
-- 🛞Practice changing a tire is your interview practice
-- 🥤Water is just water. Stay hydrated.

Your next road could be less bumpy with a coach.
